Our Mission
The mission of the Oscar Litwak Foundation is to improve the quality of life of sick children while receiving long term medical treatment. The Foundation strives to make the child’s stay in the hospital as enjoyable and comfortable as possible by creating fun playroom environments and establishing recreational programs in pediatric clinics in the United States
The flying kite represents the hopes the freedom to play, their right to be Our Programs
I – MOBILE PLAYROOM PROGRAM The Oscar Litwak Foundation creates portable playrooms that provide much needed joy and entertainment to hospitalized children. These Mobile Playrooms are specially manufactured carts filled with toys, books, arts and crafts material that can be wheeled from one room to the next, serving a great number of patients. The mobile playrooms will be placed in pediatric institutions that do not have playroom facilities or where children, due to physical limitations, diagnosis or medical treatment are not able to leave their room (click here for more information on this program).
II – PLAYROOM FUNDING PROGRAM Through this program, the Oscar Litwak Foundation provides financial support to healthcare facilities that are ready to build, rehabilitate or supply playroom facilities on their own, but lack the financial means to do so. The playroom funding program works by contributing cash donations to the qualifying institutions.
III – PLAYROOM SUPPLY PROGRAM This program provides toys, games, books, entertainment media, arts and crafts material, audio/visual equipment to existing playroom facilities in pediatric hospitals and clinics. In addition, the program ensures the playroom’s functionality and viability. The Oscar Litwak Foundation accepts non-cash donations from individuals and corporations that include, but are not limited to toys, games, arts & crafts materials, audio-visual equipment, entertainment media, etc.
IV – PLAYROOM CREATION PROGRAM Upon identifying and securing a physical space in a healthcare facility without a playroom, The Oscar Litwak Foundation helps design and construct a playroom as well as start-up the activities at the playroom. This program works through contributing cash and non-cash donations from individuals and corporations, which include, but are not limited to professional architecture and design services, building materials and contracting services, furniture, toys, games, arts & crafts materials, audio-visual equipment, entertainment media, etc.
V – PLAYROOM REHABILITATION PROGRAM This program is design to assist healthcare facilities to rebuild existing playrooms that have been neglected and are not longer functional or appropriate for children in their current state. The Rehabilitation Program receives its funding through cash and non-cash donations including professional architecture and design services, building materials, furniture, toys, games, arts & crafts materials, audio-visual equipment, entertainment media, etc.
VI – PLAYROOM MANAGEMENT PROGRAM This program ensures that the playrooms financed, supplied, created and rehabilitated by the organization are appropriately maintained and cared for. This is accomplished by creating budgets, maintenance schedules, and planning its day-to-day operations. Donations from professional management services, cash and non-cash contributions from individuals and corporations are the main source of this program. |
